A2I2 Deakin’s first research initiative
Following a review of research groupings across Deakin, the University Council has announced that A2I2 will now be Deakin’s first ‘Initiative’. The designation of ‘Initiative’ is reserved for a limited number of University-wide research groupings, characterised by their multidisciplinary collaborations and strategic value.
‘Initiatives’ are established by Council and this change reflects the University-wide nature of our AI research, which is broader than any one faculty and has the potential to advance research across several areas.
What’s changed?
Our name:
Applied Artificial Intelligence Initiative (or A2I2 when you need to say it quickly).
What hasn’t changed?
Everything else:
As an initiative, the team at A2I2 will continue their work on solving intractable challenges such as:
- putting humans at the centre of advancing artificial intelligence
- accelerating the research of some of Australia and the world’s most curious and capable minds
- developing AI models, decision support systems, and software solutions that are robust, reliable, and real-world ready.
As the development of artificial intelligence and machine learning accelerates, Deakin’s Applied Artificial Intelligence Initiative will continue to support and collaborate on research across the university.
