Media Release: $19 million for Artificial Intelligence health research projects
The Morrison Government is investing $19 million in transformative medical research projects using game-changing applied artificial intelligence (AI) technologies, to improve the ways we prevent, diagnose and treat a wide range of health conditions.
The project led by the Black Dog Institute, UNSW Sydney and Deakin University will receive almost $5 million funding to improve mental health intervention practices using AI.
“The AI developed for this project can be used in other significant health challenges where time and cost in identifying which care strategies work best are an issue. Other health challenges that stand to benefit include the management of diabetes, neurological conditions, addiction, and medications, sleep treatment, and primary care health promotion,” Alfred Deakin Professor Svetha Venkatesh said.
